ABOUT RICK

Experience matters. Perspective matters too.

I’m Rick Kamp, CLU®, ChFC®. For more than 35 years, I’ve helped individuals and families navigate the financial decisions that come with retirement, protecting the people they care about, and planning for the future.

Over the years, I’ve learned that good planning is rarely about one product or one decision. It is about understanding what you want your financial life to accomplish and making sure the different pieces work together.

A Planning Approach Built Around Real Life

My work has centered on retirement income planning, life insurance, risk management, estate-planning coordination, and helping clients understand how financial decisions affect one another.

I believe planning should begin with clarity. Before recommending a strategy, I want to understand what matters to you, what you are trying to protect, the income you will need, the people you want to provide for, and the concerns that keep you from feeling fully confident about the future.

The objective is not simply to accumulate more. It is to help your financial resources support the life you want to live and the people and causes that matter to you.

Retirement Has Shaped Much of My Work

A large part of my career has been devoted to the challenges people face as they move from earning and accumulating money to relying on what they have built.

Retirement changes the questions. How much income will you need? Where will it come from? How long must it last? How should investments, Social Security, insurance, taxes, liquidity, and estate objectives work together?

Those questions led me to develop the NorthStar Retirement Income Process™, a structured framework designed to help clients move from discovery and income assessment through coordinated planning, lifetime income design, and ongoing adaptation.

Coordinating the Broader Financial Picture

Investments are often an important part of a client’s overall financial plan. When individualized investment advice or portfolio management is appropriate, those services are provided separately through Regents Wealth Management, LLC, an Ohio-registered investment adviser.

Experience Supported by Education

I hold the Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designations from The American College of Financial Services.

I’m also the author of The Retirement Income Crisis and The Confidence Gap, both written to help people better understand the financial and emotional decisions that shape retirement.

Education has always been an important part of how I work with clients. I want people to understand why a recommendation is being made, what tradeoffs are involved, and how a decision fits into the larger plan.

Planning Is Personal to Me, Too

Financial planning is not an abstract exercise. It ultimately touches families, relationships, health, longevity, independence, and the legacy we leave behind.

My wife and I have been married for more than 50 years. We have four children and thirteen grandchildren. That perspective has reinforced something I have seen throughout my career: financial decisions are rarely just about money. They are about the people we love, the life we want to live, and the responsibilities we want to fulfill.

I live and work in Delaware, Ohio, and  serve clients nationally. I continue to enjoy helping clients gain greater clarity and confidence to those decisions.

Books & Resources

Much of my writing has grown out of the same questions I have heard from clients over the years: How do I know if I am really ready for retirement? How do I turn what I have accumulated into dependable income? How do I make decisions with greater confidence when the future is uncertain?

These books are an extension of that work—written to help people think more clearly about retirement, income, and the decisions that shape the years ahead.

The Retirement Income Crisis

Retirement creates a different set of financial challenges than the accumulation years. The Retirement Income Crisis examines the risks retirees face when they must begin relying on their savings for income and explores why a coordinated retirement-income strategy can matter.

The Confidence Gap

Financial readiness does not always lead to emotional confidence. The Confidence Gap explores why people can be well prepared for retirement and still feel uncertain about whether they have enough, whether their decisions are right, and whether their plan will hold up over time.

A conversation is The Best place to start.

The decisions you are facing may involve retirement, family, income, protection, or simply making better use of what you have already built. You do not need to have every question answered before we talk.

A conversation gives us the opportunity to identify what matters most, clarify the decisions in front of you, and determine whether there are practical steps that could strengthen your financial plan and give you greater confidence about what comes next.
